THE SCHEME
The client owned a bedsit apartment in Kew Gardens and asked a straightforward question: what could be done with it?
The answer was in the roof. The eaves above the existing footprint were unused — dead space, not counted as part of the flat. Bringing that space into habitable use meant the apartment could be reconfigured from a single room into a genuine two-bedroom home, without extending the building or changing its footprint.
The conversion added an estimated £300,000 in value — the clearest illustration of what early architectural judgement is worth. No planning risk was taken on, no extension was built. The value came from seeing what was already there.

Sliding folding screens allow flexible and adaptive use of the apartment with the ability to open up to the new eaves level or close off rooms for cellular accommodation.
Bespoke, made to measure joinery utilises all available space with storage walls at either end of the apartment to house wardrobes, folding screens and the kitchen.
